Frequently asked questions

Q

Do I receive accreditation from Oxford University for my course work?

Only students enrolled at our full-time Oxford courses can receive Oxford credit. Online students receive a Completion Certificate signed by the instructors and the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies Academic Director, Prof. Gavin Flood, with their name and grades.

Q

Can I get a refund?

We will give a 100% refund on cancellations received before the course commencement date. We will give a 65% refund if after the first week you decide you don't want to continue for any reason.

After the first week we can discuss a refund or transfer you to a later course under special circumstances, such as ill health. It is our policy to extend the greatest possible flexibility to students under these circumstances.

Q

Do I need good computer skills?

Don't worry about technical skills – if you can handle email then you're ready to go.

Q

In what order should I take the courses?

You can take as many or as few courses as you like in any order you like. Having said that, we do recommend the Understanding Hindu Identity course as a starting point for its excellent overview of the topics that other courses specialise in.

Q

Do I need to buy a book or any other materials?

No, all materials are included in the course. In some courses the online course notes are available for purchase in book form, but this is for convenience only and is by no means a necessity.

Q

What is the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies?

The Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies (OCHS) is Oxford university's main source of teaching in Hinduism. One of the OCHS's main purposes is to make the best in Hindu Studies available to a wide audience, hence these online courses.

Q

How do I pay?

Secure payment can be made at enrolment using major credit cards or PayPal. If you can't pay by card then contact us to arrange payment by cheque or bank transfer.

First of all, check your spam folder. If it's not there, then contact us.

Q

Can I enrol on more than one course?
